Graduation Session Prep
Booked! What's next?
Excited to work with you! Here's how you can prepare for our session:
Logistics
-
Plan to arrive 5–10 minutes early. Sessions run on a schedule (especially during grad season)
-
Unless we directly coordinate otherwise, all graduation sessions will meet just in front of Botany pond.
Weather
Keep an eye on the weather. I'll reach out about rescheduling if the weather truly looks bad. If you don't hear from me – assume we're on. You're welcome to cancel or rechedule appointments 24 hours ahead of time. Sunny and cloudless days are great for those who like warm but harsher light, while cloudier days can provide a colder but gentler and more diffuse look. Keep your preferences in mind when booking.
Look Sharp (but don't overthink it)
If you're planning a haircut, grooming, or professional makeup, nows the time to lock that in.
-
Haircuts: aim for ~1 week before your session so it looks natural
-
Makeup: go slightly more defined than everyday—it photographs better
-
Bring essentials: comb, makeup, touch-ups, lint roller
You don’t need to reinvent yourself—just show up as a polished version of you.
Outfit Planning
What you wear will shape the feel of your photos.
-
Stick to clean, timeless pieces (solids > busy patterns)
-
Neutrals and soft colors photograph best around campus
-
If you opt for a skirt, be mindful of its length (some poses require sitting)
-
Bring 1–2 outfit options if your session allows
-
For grads: cap, gown, cords, and any meaningful extras
-
Not outfit related – but champagne is a favorite! Make sure it's the fizzing kind
If you’re unsure, send me options—I’ll tell you what works and what doesn’t.
Know What You Want These For
I'd love to know what you're hoping to get out of the session.
-
LinkedIn / recruiting?
-
Graduation announcements?
-
Instagram / personal branding?
-
Family keepsakes?
Tell me your priorities ahead of time—I’ll shoot with that in mind so you’re not trying to force one photo to do everything.
If you have any questions or want feedback before your session, just reach out.
Looking forward to shooting with you!
